The Birthplace of Texas - Washington-on-the-brazos
Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site is where the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed on March 2, 1836. It is the birthplace of Texas. The site is comprised of three attractions: Independence Hall where the Texas declaration was signed, the Star of the Republic Museum (administered by Blinn College), and Barrington Living History Farm. The 293 acre park is administered by Texas Parks and Wildlife with the purpose of preservation, education through interpretation and programming. The Washington-on-the-Brazos State Park Association supports the efforts of the Park through membership and fundraising.
